Prince Dube becomes latest former PSL star to return to Zimbabwe
Prince Dube has become the latest former South African Premier Soccer League star to return to Zimbabwe, with FARPost reporting that the striker is set to join Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Hardrock FC.
The 29-year-old ended his time with Tanzania’s Young Africans SC after his contract expired on 30 June 2026. He leaves the club after helping them win a fifth consecutive NBC Premier League title.
Dube scored in Young Africans SC’s final match of the 2025-26 season on Tuesday, contributing to a 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania. Maxi Nzengeli and Clement Mzize were also on the scoresheet as Young Africans SC finished the campaign strongly.
Young Africans SC ended the season on 75 points, two ahead of fierce rivals Simba SC, who finished with 73 points under manager Steve Barker. Azam FC and Singida Black Stars completed the top four.
Dube’s return follows a growing movement of established Zimbabwean players coming back from South Africa and elsewhere to compete in the improving Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
The trend began in 2024 when Khama Billiat returned to Zimbabwe after a distinguished career with Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs. He initially joined Yadah FC before moving to his current club, Scottland FC.
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona and former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United forward Terrence Dzvukamanja followed in July 2025. Both players signed for Scottland FC, with SuperSport United now known as Siwelele FC.
Former goalkeeper Washington Arubi also returned to Zimbabwe on Monday, joining CAPS United after his contract with Marumo Gallants expired. His move brought an end to a 14-year spell in South Africa.
Dube is joining a Hardrock FC side that has made an immediate impact in its first Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. The Kwekwe-based club is owned by Shepherd Chahwanda and has emerged as one of the main challengers to Scottland FC.
Hardrock FC are second in the league with 38 points, five behind leaders Scottland FC. The latter have been strengthened by the experience of Musona and Billiat as they compete at the top of the table.
Hardrock FC have also added to their defence with the signing of Gerald Takwara, the former Ajax Cape Town defender. Ajax Cape Town are now known as Cape Town Spurs.
Dube’s arrival adds further attacking quality to a club that has already challenged the established order in its maiden campaign. His return also extends the list of former South African top-flight players choosing to continue their careers in Zimbabwe as the domestic league attracts increasing attention following the opening of the July transfer window.
