What a thrilling match it was! The crowd gathered at the Lomé municipal stadium witnessed an intense battle between Togo and Ivory Coast, with high stakes for both teams. Ultimately, it was the Sparrowhawks of Togo who emerged victorious, securing their place in the competition while Ivory Coast faced elimination.

Togo got off to a strong start, taking the lead early in the game with a goal from Abdoul-Razak Alassani. Despite Ivory Coast’s efforts to respond, it was Pehedoh Zouzoua who equalized for them before halftime with a well-taken free kick.

The second half saw increased tension as Ivory Coast pressed for a winner, while Togo defended resolutely. Tensions rose further when Togo was reduced to ten men after Mouktar Oukpedjo received a second yellow card. However, Togo managed to hold on until the final whistle, securing a vital victory.

With this win, Togo finished at the top of Group A with 4 points, ahead of Benin with 3 points. Ivory Coast, on the other hand, finished at the bottom of the group with just 1 point.
