Premier League trio circle English-Nigerian midfielder Tim Iroegbunam as Moyes prepares summer clear-out

Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has emerged as a transfer target for newly promoted Premier League trio Hull City, Ipswich Town and Coventry City, with the Toffees considering a permanent departure for the 23-year-old this summer.

David Moyes is reshaping his squad at Goodison Park and is working on several deals aimed at strengthening his options ahead of the new season. However, the manager also needs to create space within his squad, with some players expected to leave before the transfer window closes.

Iroegbunam is among those who could be sacrificed as Everton look to balance their incomings and outgoings.

Everton demand permanent exit for Iroegbunam

The midfielder has entered the final year of his contract on Merseyside, a situation that has increased pressure on Everton to make a decision over his future.

The Toffees are reportedly unwilling to consider loan offers for Iroegbunam as they look to avoid losing him for free when his deal expires in 2027. A permanent transfer would allow the club to recover value from a player who still has Premier League experience and significant potential.

According to Teamtalk.com, Hull City, Ipswich Town and Coventry City have all expressed interest in securing his services following their promotion to the top flight.

Everton initially placed a valuation of around £20 million on the former Aston Villa midfielder, although that figure could be reduced given his limited senior experience at the highest level. Iroegbunam has made just 59 top-flight appearances during spells with Villa and Everton.

Moyes continues squad rebuild

The possible departure of Iroegbunam comes as Everton accelerate their summer recruitment plans.

The club have already made Merlin Röhl and Tyrique George’s loan moves permanent, while also completing the signing of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough.

A deal for Arsenal midfielder Christian Nørgaard could be the next addition, with the Gunners looking to move on the experienced Norwegian as they prepare space for further midfield reinforcements.

Moyes is keen to add more leadership and experience to his midfield following the exit of Idrissa Gana Gueye, and Nørgaard fits the profile of the player he wants to bring into his squad.

However, with new arrivals expected, Everton must also trim their squad, making Iroegbunam’s future one of the key decisions facing the club this summer.

The midfielder joined Everton from Aston Villa in 2024 and has shown flashes of his ability, but his contract situation and the club’s need to generate funds could now open the door for a move away from Goodison Park.
