Brighton & Hove Albion are continuing their pursuit of Micah Mbick, with the Premier League club prepared to intensify their efforts to sign the young striker during the winter transfer window.
Despite playing his football in England’s lower divisions, Mbick has emerged as a priority target for Brighton’s recruitment team.
According to The Athletic, the club remain keen on securing the signature of the English forward of Cameroonian heritage, who is currently on loan at Colchester United from Charlton Athletic.
Brighton have already seen two bids turned down, including an offer reported to be worth up to £3.5m (€4m).
However, the club have not abandoned their interest and are said to be considering a renewed approach with an improved proposal in an attempt to convince Charlton to sell.
Mbick’s situation is complicated by the length of his contract, which runs until June 2028.
That long-term agreement places Charlton in a strong negotiating position and has so far allowed them to resist Brighton’s advances, despite the growing attention surrounding the striker.
Those close to the player regard Mbick as a prospect with significant potential. While his current market value is estimated at €125,000 by Transfermarkt,
Brighton’s willingness to table offers far beyond that figure underlines the club’s belief in his long-term development rather than his immediate resale value.
