Port Vale recruit Maleace Asamoah for League Two loan

England and Ghana winger Maleace Asamoah has joined Port Vale from Wigan on loan, giving the League Two club a new right-sided attacking option until 31 May 2027.

The 23-year-old switches from Wigan, who play in League One, after returning to the club from a loan spell with Shamrock Rovers on 31 August. His move to Port Vale was completed the following day.

Asamoah spent the second half of the 2025-26 season with Shamrock Rovers, joining the Irish club from Wigan on 23 February 2026. He returned to Wigan at the end of that loan before making his latest temporary move.

The Oxford-born winger has already featured in European qualifying this season, making one appearance in both the Europa League and Champions League qualifying rounds. He did not score in either outing.

Asamoah joined Wigan from Fleetwood in August 2024, following a spell with the League One club that included a loan move to Waterford. Before that, he had played for New Salamis, Kalamata and Olympiakos Volos, with his senior career also taking him to Cheshunt after leaving Tottenham’s under-23 side.

A right-footed player who stands 1.83m tall, Asamoah has been used primarily on the right wing. His arrival gives Port Vale a player with experience across English football and recent exposure to competitive European fixtures.

The move also continues a career that has involved several changes of club since 2020, including loan spells with Olympiakos Volos, Waterford and Shamrock Rovers. His latest switch takes him from Wigan’s League One set-up to Port Vale’s League Two campaign.

Asamoah will remain with Port Vale on loan through 31 May 2027.
