Former France international Yohan Cabaye has cautioned Paul Pogba against a return to the Premier League, highlighting the league’s high physical demands.
Pogba, who has Guinean heritage through his parents, is reportedly considering a move back to England after his ban for a doping violation was reduced by the Italian Anti-Doping National Tribunal to 18 months.
Cabaye expressed doubts about whether the intense and fast-paced nature of English football would suit the 30-year-old at this stage in his career.
“I’m not certain that a move to the Premier League would be the right move for Pogba, and it’s a really demanding league in terms of fitness, effort and intensity,” Cabaye told listofsweepstakescasinos.com.
Pogba, who last played in the Premier League with Manchester United, has struggled with injuries and form in recent years, making his potential comeback a challenging prospect.
Cabaye also suggested that the upcoming Club World Cup might not be the ideal platform for Pogba’s return to top-level football, given his long spell on the sidelines.
“I’m not sure that the Club World Cup is the right place for Paul Pogba to attempt his comeback. He’s not played for a while now, so I think it’s not the right time for him,” Cabaye added.
Despite these concerns, Cabaye acknowledged that if Pogba can rediscover his form, he still has the potential to be a leader for any team he joins.
“It could be difficult for him. Of course, if Pogba does find his form once more, then he can be a really good leader for any side.”
