South African coach Pitso Mosimane has emerged as the leading candidate for the vacant coaching job at Zamalek SC.
The veteran gaffer is currently unattached after parting ways with Iranian giants Esteghlal due to financial issues in January.
Mosimane has long been linked with the vacant head coach position at Zamalek SC, which became available after the Egyptian club parted ways with Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro in early May.
Several reports indicate that Zamalek have held discussions with Mosimane, although the club has yet to issue any official confirmation regarding the speculation.
According to Kooora, the former Mamelodi Sundowns trainer now tops the list of foreign candidates being considered for the Zamalek job.
The club reportedly regards him as the ideal choice, thanks to his extensive experience and proven success in African football.
The report also noted that Mosimane is competing with Brazilian coach Rogerio Micale and Romanian manager Laurențiu Reghecampf, amongst others, for the position.
It remains to be seen whether the former Al Ahly boss will take the reins at Zamalek ahead of the new season.
