Legendary South African coach Pitso Mosimane has reportedly requested a monthly salary of $180,000 before accepting the head coaching role at Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.
Zamalek are currently in the market for a new manager following the sacking of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro, who was dismissed after failing to meet the club’s expectations.
Mosimane, who has been without a club since parting ways with Iranian side Esteghlal in January, has emerged as a leading candidate for the vacant post.
According to Egyptian journalist Abu Al-Maati Zaki, speaking on the Star of the Masses YouTube channel and cited by Twaslnews.com, Zamalek have made direct contact with the former Al Ahly boss.
“Zamalek contacted Mosimane to coach the team in the coming period, succeeding the Portuguese Jose Peseiro,” he said.
“The South African asked for a salary of $180,000 (approximately R3.2 million) to agree to coach Zamalek, in addition to granting him full authority to manage all the team’s affairs,” he added.
Mosimane is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most successful coaches, having achieved continental glory with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly.
His potential return to Egyptian football has sparked significant interest across the continent.
