Pione Sisto, the talented 19-year-old Sudanese-Danish midfielder from FC Midtjylland, is attracting serious interest from French clubs Olympique de Marseille and Lille (LOSC).
Olympique de Marseille is reportedly targeting Sisto as part of coach Marcelo Bielsa’s plan to refresh the squad, anticipating possible midfield departures like Mathieu Valbuena and André Ayew. Sisto, who can play on both wings and has shown a sharp eye for goal with 9 strikes last season, fits the profile of a young, versatile attacking player Marseille wants to develop.
However, Lille is also keen on the player, seeing him as an asset to strengthen their attack. According to L’Equipe, LOSC has joined the chase alongside Marseille, Napoli, Juventus, and Red Bull Salzburg, all of whom have expressed interest in the young star.
The challenge for both French clubs is the asking price. After recently extending his contract until 2019, FC Midtjylland is demanding nearly €15 million for Sisto, a steep fee for a player with only one professional season. This high valuation may slow down or complicate any potential transfer.
In summary, while Pione Sisto is clearly a hot prospect sought by several European clubs, the financial demands and his relatively limited professional experience mean that securing his signature won’t be easy for OM or Lille.
