Florent Malouda, the Guyanese midfielder, was present in Accra to support Michael Essien. Despite being placed on the free contract list by his club, Chelsea, the 32-year-old, who has not played for Chelsea since their Champions League victory in May 2012, remains optimistic and in good spirits.
In an interview at his hotel, Malouda shared his thoughts on the current phase of his career: “For the moment, I am not worried. I don’t consider myself a former Blue looking for work. I’m at a somewhat special period in my life, where we ask ourselves questions, we think. And I also take advantage of these moments to also get involved in charitable actions. It’s good in that way to be a free man.”
Despite facing what he terms “technical unemployment,” Malouda remains positive and uses this time to reflect and contribute to charitable endeavors. His upbeat attitude reflects a sense of freedom and openness to new opportunities beyond his playing career.
