Petrojet gave their fans reason to celebrate after grinding out a 1-0 win against El Mokawloon at the Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo.
The result marked their second victory of the season and pushed them to the summit of the Egyptian Premier League table.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Omar Reda struck, sparking loud cheers from the home support. The victory carried extra weight as it lifted Petrojet to eight points under coach Sayed Eid, whose players fought until the final whistle.
For El Mokawloon, the night was another tough chapter. Guided by coach Mohamed Mekki, they remained stuck on two points and dropped to nineteenth place, struggling to find rhythm.
Elsewhere, Pyramids FC were handed their first defeat of the campaign, falling 2-1 at home to Modern Sport FC. Ghanem Mohammed opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Ali Fawzi doubled the lead with a penalty on 59 minutes. Moroccan defender Mohamed Chibi was sent off late, and though Karim Hafez pulled one back from the spot in stoppage time, it was too late.
