Peter Shalulile scores again as Young Africans make it three wins from three

Peter Shalulile was on target once more as Young Africans SC strengthened their perfect start to the Tanzanian Premier League season with a 4-0 victory over JKT Tanzania on Monday evening.

The result means Yanga have won all three of their league matches so far, scoring 11 goals in the process. Their latest success also restored them to the top of the league table, ahead of Simba SC on goal difference.

Young Africans SC took control of the match in the first half, with Albert Kangwanda opening the scoring after 29 minutes. Ibrahim Hamad Bacca doubled the advantage only five minutes later as Manqoba Mngqithi’s side quickly established a commanding position.

Chadrack Boka added a third before half-time, leaving JKT Tanzania with a difficult task after conceding three goals in the opening 45 minutes. Shalulile then completed the scoring in the 64th minute, adding another goal to his impressive start to the campaign.

The win follows a 4-1 victory against Coastal Union and a 3-1 away success at Namungo FC on the opening match day. Those results, together with Monday’s emphatic win, have given Yanga the strongest goal difference in the early standings.

Mngqithi’s team have now won four matches from four in all competitions since the start of the season. Their unbeaten run also includes a 1-0 victory over rivals Simba SC in the FA Community Shield.

Simba, coached by Steve Barker, occupy second place in the Tanzanian Premier League. They also have a maximum nine points from three matches, but their goal difference is inferior to that of Young Africans SC.

Yanga’s goal difference stands at +9, compared with +4 for Simba, reflecting the difference in the two sides’ strong opening results. Both clubs have therefore made perfect starts in terms of points, with Young Africans SC currently leading because of their greater scoring margin.

Mngqithi’s side will next be in action on Friday, when they host Pamba. Their opponents have collected only one point from their opening matches and will face a Young Africans SC team that has scored freely in its first three league games.

For Shalulile, the goal against JKT Tanzania provided another contribution to a campaign in which Yanga have quickly established themselves as the early pace-setters. The club’s immediate objective will be to maintain that record when Pamba visit on Friday.
