Renowned Egyptian football figure and host of “90+,” Ibrahim Said, has unveiled the conditions set by South African winger Percy Tau for the renewal of his contract with Al Ahly during the current transfer window.
Said, speaking on the “90+” program broadcasted on Al-Nahar channel, stated, “The planning committee, in coordination with Mahmoud El Khatib, the president of Al Ahly, has prepared a special offer to extend Percy Tau’s contract upon his return from participating with his national team in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.”
He continued, “The committee insists on retaining the player after his outstanding performances with both his national team and Al Ahly before his participation in the tournament, along with his expressed happiness within the club.”
Clarifying further, Said mentioned, “The contracting management, led by Amir Tawfik, has outlined a new contract proposal, including a financial increase from the current terms, alongside incorporating certain privileges, incentive clauses, and bonuses related to goal-scoring and winning championships, aiming to convince him to stay amid strong offers from clubs eagerly awaiting the end of his contract with Al Ahly.”
Said continued, “Tau has requested distinctive benefits, the most notable being an annual salary of $1.7 million in the first season, increasing by $100,000 annually for three seasons.”
He added, “Al Ahly’s administration has affirmed that these financial demands exceed the previously agreed-upon terms, especially considering that the player is currently earning $1.4 million in the upcoming and final season.
An offer with a lower figure will be prepared, given the challenging currency situation and the significant struggle in managing the financial commitments of foreign players within the club.”
In conclusion, Said noted, “Al Ahly’s offer is expected to include an annual salary of $1.5 million for the player, with an increase of $100,000, along with additional bonuses, but in the local currency.”
