Pendikspor, led by Senegalese stars Mame Baba Thiam, Badou N’diaye, and Joher Khadim Rassoul, endured a frustrating stalemate away against Samsunspor in a Süper Lig encounter, leaving them with work to do in their bid for survival in the Turkish top flight.
Despite showing promise in the opening half, with several opportunities to break the deadlock, Pendikspor failed to register a single shot on target in the first 45 minutes of the game.
It wasn’t until the second half that Ibrahim Üzülmez’s side managed to muster two shots, one of which came from Mame Baba Thiam, the 2022 African champion, finding the back of the net in the 67th minute.
However, despite both teams pushing for a breakthrough, the match concluded in a goalless draw, leaving the scoreline unchanged at 0-0.
The draw proved costly for Pendikspor, currently sitting in 19th place with 30 points, as they dropped two vital points in their battle to avoid relegation from the Süper Lig.
Senegalese internationals Mame Baba Thiam and Pape Badou N’diaye featured for the entirety of the match, while Joher Rassoul remained an unused substitute.
For Mame Baba Thiam, the stalemate marked his eighth consecutive Süper Lig match without finding the back of the net, leaving his goal tally stagnant at 15 for the league season.
His last league goal dates back to January 27, during Pendikspor’s clash against Alanyspor on matchday 23, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
As Pendikspor continues its fight for survival in the Süper Lig, the pressure mounts on Mame Baba Thiam and his teammates to rediscover their scoring touch and secure crucial points in the remaining fixtures of the season.
