Pedro Gonçalves files FIFA complaint over dispute with Angolan Football Federation

Former Angola national team coach Pedro Gonçalves has taken his contractual dispute with the Angolan Football Federation to FIFA, formally filing a complaint over what he claims are unpaid obligations following the end of his tenure.

The Portuguese manager alleges that the federation has not respected several clauses in his contract, with payments he believes are due still outstanding.

According to sources familiar with the case, Gonçalves decided to seek FIFA’s intervention after efforts to resolve the matter through dialogue failed.

The dispute centres on financial commitments that the coach says were not honoured after his collaboration with the federation concluded.

People close to the situation suggest that the legal complaint represents a final attempt by the former national team manager to settle the disagreement after mediation attempts did not produce a resolution.

Attempts at mediation unsuccessful

Before turning to FIFA, Gonçalves reportedly pursued several avenues to resolve the issue through amicable discussions with the federation.

However, according to those close to the matter, those approaches did not lead to any agreement.

The continued absence of a settlement plan and the lack of progress in negotiations eventually pushed the coach to seek arbitration from the world governing body of football.

The legal move places the dispute under FIFA’s jurisdiction, where the organisation will assess the contractual claims and determine whether the federation failed to meet its obligations.

Relationship strained after coaching spell

Gonçalves previously led the Angolan national team and oversaw a period that produced notable results for the side.

Despite those achievements, the disagreement over contractual terms has significantly strained relations between the coach and the federation he once represented.

With the case now officially submitted, FIFA’s judicial bodies will examine the evidence presented by both parties.

If the Zurich-based organisation concludes that the federation breached its contractual responsibilities, it could face financial penalties or other sanctions.

For now, the matter remains under review as FIFA prepares to evaluate the complaint and determine the next steps in the dispute between the former Angola coach and the national football authority.
