Paulo Dybala to undergo medical tests after injury in Roma’s defeat by Real Madrid

Roma are waiting for medical tests to establish the nature and severity of Paulo Dybala’s injury sustained during their 4-3 defeat by Real Madrid.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Argentina forward will undergo an examination today after being forced off during the Champions League league-phase match at the Stadio Olimpico. Rodrigo Mora replaced Dybala.

Real Madrid completed a late comeback to take all three points in the Italian capital, despite trailing 3-1 until the 83rd minute. Three goals in the closing stages turned the match in the visitors’ favour.

Roma took the lead after 20 minutes through Martin de Roon, but Real Madrid responded quickly when Kylian Mbappe equalised five minutes later. The teams went into half-time level at 1-1.

Roma restored their advantage after the interval as Donyell Malen scored twice, finding the net in the 51st and 57th minutes.

Real Madrid then began its decisive recovery. Substitute Carlos Espe reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute, before another substitute, Endrick, scored two minutes later to make it 3-3.

Antonio Rudiger completed the turnaround in the first minute of stoppage time, scoring the winning goal to secure a 4-3 victory for Real Madrid.

All three of Real Madrid’s final goals came from corners.

The medical assessment will determine the extent of Dybala’s injury and how serious the problem is.
