Paul Pogba to mark injury against Marseille

Franco-Guinean star Paul Pogba is back in contention for AS Monaco after months on the sidelines due to injury setbacks.

The 33-year-old, who recently featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford FC U23s during the international break, appears to have fully recovered from the calf injury that has kept him out since early December.

Pogba’s return marks a significant moment in what has been a frustrating campaign for the former France international.

Since arriving in the summer on a two-year deal—following the end of his doping ban—the midfielder has managed just 30 minutes of competitive action for the Principality club.

However, there is now renewed optimism that Pogba could play a meaningful role in Monaco’s run-in as the season approaches its decisive phase.

“He is available, yes,” Monaco manager Sébastien Pocognoli confirmed ahead of Sunday’s clash against Olympique de Marseille.

“There are still three sessions before that game. He has been continuously training with the team since the start of the international break. It is a possibility that he plays.”

While Pogba’s situation offers encouragement, Monaco have also been dealt a setback elsewhere in the squad. The manager confirmed that defender Kassoum Ouattara will be sidelined for “several weeks” due to injury, casting doubt over his availability for the remainder of the season.

For Monaco, Pogba’s comeback could not come at a better time. With key fixtures looming and squad depth being tested, the experience and quality of the World Cup winner could provide a timely boost.

After months of setbacks and limited action, Pogba now stands on the brink of a fresh start—one that could yet redefine his season and impact Monaco’s ambitions in the weeks ahead.
