Patrick Vieira names Senegal assistants ahead of CAN 2027 qualifiers

Senegal manager Patrick Vieira has appointed Mickael Marsiglia and Issa Aidara to his coaching staff as preparations begin for the CAN 2027 qualifying campaign.

The technical team supporting the Lions of the Teranga is now taking shape under the new head coach. Marsiglia will work alongside Vieira, while Aidara has been named as the second assistant.

Marsiglia, a former midfielder, has been involved in coaching for several years and is recognised for his analytical and tactical qualities. The Frenchman has managed AS Cannes and also worked for OGC Nice as a scout and recruiter.

His experience includes both coaching and player assessment, roles which are expected to support Senegal’s preparations as Vieira begins his tenure with the national side.

The Senegal Football Federation has placed its confidence in Seydina Issa Aidara as the second assistant. Aidara developed his coaching career at FC Diambars, where he spent 13 years.

He has also served as an assistant coach with the Senegal U23 and U17 teams, giving him experience of working with players at different stages of their international development.

Marsiglia and Aidara bring different backgrounds to Vieira’s staff. Their combined knowledge will contribute to the assessment and selection of players based in Europe as well as those competing in Senegal.

The partnership is also intended to help strengthen the connection between expatriate players and those playing domestically as Senegal prepare for the CAN 2027 qualifiers.
