Paris Saint-Germain submit €33m bid for Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki

Paris Saint-Germain have made an official offer for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, moving ahead of Juventus in the race to sign Japan’s first-choice goalkeeper, according to reports.

The French club’s bid is believed to be worth about €33m, with TuttoMercato reporting that the proposal puts Paris Saint-Germain in the strongest position to complete the transfer during the current window.

Suzuki has established himself as Japan’s main goalkeeper and has impressed in the Italian league since joining Parma. He has made 57 appearances for the club, as well as adding to his experience at international level with the Japan national team.

The 23-year-old remains under contract with Parma until 2029. The Italian club had been expecting offers in the region of €30m, meaning Paris Saint-Germain’s reported proposal would meet or exceed the valuation Parma had anticipated.

The potential move would add further depth to Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeping department. Matvey Safonov is already at the club and has been regarded as the current first-choice option, while the French champions also signed Lucas Chevalier earlier in the summer.

Reports suggest Paris Saint-Germain could complete a deal for Suzuki before sending him out on loan. Such an arrangement would allow the goalkeeper to play more regularly and gain additional experience rather than immediately competing for a starting place within the club’s existing squad.

Juventus are now concerned that they could lose one of their leading targets for the position. The Italian side had been pursuing Suzuki as part of its plans in goal, but Paris Saint-Germain’s progress in negotiations has changed the balance of the transfer race.

The reported offer comes as Paris Saint-Germain continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The club are pursuing further additions despite already having Safonov and Chevalier available, while Suzuki’s possible recruitment would provide another long-term option in the position.

For Juventus, the development increases the pressure to resolve their goalkeeping plans in the coming period. Paris Saint-Germain’s bid has put the French club closer to securing the Japan international, although the transfer has not yet been confirmed as complete.

Suzuki’s contract situation gives Parma a strong negotiating position, with three years still remaining on his current agreement. However, the offer of around €33m places Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Juventus and makes them the leading candidate to take the goalkeeper from the Italian club during this transfer window.
