Paris Saint-Germain handed Barcelona and Manchester City tests in Champions League league phase
Paris Saint-Germain will face Barcelona and Manchester City among their eight fixtures in the league phase of the Champions League, after Uefa confirmed the schedule for the competition.
The reigning champions will play four matches at home and four away under the tournament’s new league-phase format. Each club faces two opponents from each of the four seeding pots, with the draw pairing teams from Pot One through to Pot Four.
Paris Saint-Germain’s campaign begins at home against Slovan Bratislava on 9 September 2026. They will then travel to face Manchester City before hosting Barcelona in what is likely to be one of the most anticipated matches of the league phase.
Their complete fixture list is:
– Paris Saint-Germain v Slovan Bratislava – 9 September 2026, Parc des Princes – Manchester City v Paris Saint-Germain – 14 October 2026, Etihad Stadium – Paris Saint-Germain v Barcelona – 20 October 2026, Parc des Princes – Villarreal v Paris Saint-Germain – 3 November, La Ceramica – Paris Saint-Germain v Roma – 25 November, Parc des Princes – Aston Villa v Paris Saint-Germain – 8 December 2026, Villa Park – Como v Paris Saint-Germain – 20 January 2027, Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium – Paris Saint-Germain v Galatasaray – 27 January 2027, Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain have been drawn against Barcelona and Manchester City from the first seeding pot. Their other opponents are Villarreal, Roma, Aston Villa, Como, Galatasaray and Slovan Bratislava.
The fixture with Barcelona will renew a growing European rivalry. The two sides have met 16 times previously, while the past four meetings have all been won by the visiting team.
The latest of those encounters ended in a 2-1 victory for Paris Saint-Germain in Spain during the second round of last season’s Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain also faced Barcelona in last season’s league phase, winning 2-1 at the temporary Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, which was being used by Barcelona at the time.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have met eight times in total. Their most recent meeting came in January 2025 on matchday seven of the Champions League league phase, when Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 4-2 victory.
The French club are listed as having won the past two editions of the Champions League and will begin their latest title defence with a home match against Slovan Bratislava. Their league-phase programme concludes at home against Galatasaray on 27 January 2027, after away trips to Manchester City, Villarreal, Aston Villa and Como.
