It has been a remarkable week for Grandpa Mison Djilobodji. Following his impressive performance in the Breton derby against Rennes (3-1), the Senegalese defender received a call-up from Alain Giresse for the first leg of the 2014 World Cup play-off against Côte d’Ivoire.
Continuing this positive momentum, Nantes faced Evian Thonon Gaillard in the 9th round of Ligue 1 on Saturday. After Togolese player Serge Gakpé’s excellent work, Serbian striker Filip Djordjevic opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Djordjevic later doubled the lead with another goal in the 34th minute.
In the closing moments of the match, Djilobodji made his presence felt. Rising for a corner, the central defender received an excellent ball from Deaux and headed it past Laquait from close range, sealing a 3-0 victory for Nantes. Djilobodji’s contribution on both ends of the pitch showcased his versatility and played a key role in Nantes’ success.
