Pape Diouf, the former president of Olympique de Marseille, has revealed that he is considering running for mayor of Marseille. In an interview with the sports daily Stades, Diouf stated that he has received numerous requests from various left-wing parties and movements, either to lead their lists or to hold a prominent position.
Diouf emphasized that his current approach is more of a citizen’s perspective than that of a political actor. He acknowledged the complexity a potential candidacy could introduce to the representative of the Socialist Party emerging from the Primaries. Diouf mentioned that the Socialist Party representative had offered him a special place at his side, highlighting the political dynamics at play in Marseille.
