Former Ligue 1 player Pape Diakhaté, known for his stints at Nancy, Saint-Étienne, and Lyon, is embarking on a new chapter in his career. The Senegalese defender returned to La Liga in 2011 with Granada, but now he’s set to join Erciyesspor on loan until the end of the season, as announced by his club on Twitter. This move presents a fresh challenge for Diakhaté, who will be playing in his fourth different league, having also spent time with Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine.
At 29 years old, the Senegalese international, nicknamed the Lion of Teranga, is still under contract with his Spanish club until June 2016. Joining Erciyesspor means he’ll be playing alongside fellow Africans such as Kader Mangane, Georges Mandjeck, and Bakaye Traoré.
