It’s a major setback for Camara and Valenciennes. Following the injury news we reported last Saturday, the scan results have confirmed that the Senegalese defender suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligaments in his left knee. The injury occurred during added time in the match against Saint-Etienne (0-1), even though Camara had only entered the game in the 75th minute.
The scan results indicate that Camara will be sidelined for a period of 6 months, effectively ending his season. The 21-year-old defender joined Valenciennes in January from the Belgian club Standard Liège. This injury comes on the heels of another Valenciennes player, Mody Traoré, also suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament recently, keeping him off the field for 4 months. Coach Daniel Sanchez now faces a challenging situation with key players sidelined due to injuries.
