Panathinaikos make Anas Zaroury move permanent after impressive season
Greek giants Panathinaikos have decided to secure the services of Moroccan winger Anas Zaroury on a permanent basis after activating the buy option included in his loan agreement from RC Lens.
Strong Performances Convince Panathinaikos
After producing a series of consistent displays throughout the campaign, Zaroury quickly became an important figure within the squad. His performances earned the confidence of the coaching staff, who pushed for the club to convert the temporary move into a long term deal.
The Moroccan international adapted well to life in Greece and established himself as one of the club’s most reliable attacking players during the season.
Fresh Start After Difficult Spell in France
Zaroury’s move to Panathinaikos came after a challenging period with Lens following his transfer from Burnley in the summer of 2024.
Despite arriving in France with high expectations, the winger struggled to secure a regular place in the starting lineup and found it difficult to make the desired impact during his time in Ligue 1.
His loan spell in Greece, however, provided the perfect opportunity to revive his career and rediscover his confidence on the pitch.
Permanent Deal Offers Stability
According to reports, the transfer is valued at around €3 million, with Zaroury expected to sign a three year contract with Panathinaikos. The deal is also believed to include an annual salary of approximately €1.2 million, in addition to performance related bonuses.
For Zaroury, the permanent switch represents both stability and a fresh opportunity to continue building his reputation in European football while aiming to strengthen his place in the Moroccan national team setup.
