Following a stellar performance that secured their position at the top of Group D in the ongoing 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023), the Palancas Negras of Angola are engaging in a comprehensive recovery day.

This strategic approach aims to ensure the team is in peak condition for their upcoming 1/8 finals clash at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on Saturday, where they will face one of the third-ranked teams from Groups E and F.

After surpassing formidable opponents like Algeria and Burkina Faso in the group stage, the Palancas Negras are now prioritizing the physical well-being of their players.

The team is undergoing a meticulously planned recovery session, which includes invigorating ice baths, essential stretches, and a soothing pool session.

This holistic approach reflects the team’s commitment to maintaining peak athletic performance throughout the tournament.

Currently situated in Yamoussoukro, the Palancas Negras are set to return to their base in Bouaké on Thursday, January 25.

Their focus remains unwavering as they prepare to confront the challenges that lie ahead in the knockout stage of the competition.

In a notable roster update, Inácio Miguel, who plays for Petro Luanda, will step in to replace Loide Augusto. Augusto had to leave the Palancas Negras gathering unexpectedly due to a pressing family situation.

The team extends its understanding and support to Augusto during this challenging time.

As the Palancas Negras regroup and fine-tune their strategies, fans eagerly anticipate another inspiring performance from the Angolan side in the upcoming 1/8 finals, as they strive to continue their impressive journey in AFCON 2023.
