Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi expressed immense pride after guiding his team to a commanding 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
The win, secured on Saturday, sees Palace advance to their first FA Cup final in decades, with Ismaila Sarr scoring twice and Ebere Eze also finding the net.
Guehi, who is of Ivorian descent, praised his team’s resilience and focus throughout the match.
“It was a really tough game. Against really good opposition, and in those games, it’s about moments,” Guehi told BBC Sport.
He highlighted his team’s togetherness and strong spirit, stressing the importance of not getting ahead of themselves despite the significant achievement.
“We now don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and it is important that we stay focused,” Guehi added.
“At least we get to relax and enjoy the other semi-final and see who we will play.”
The 24-year-old defender, who has been a key figure for Palace this season, also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of manager Oliver Glasner and goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Guehi credited Henderson for his vocal presence and leadership, particularly in crucial moments during the match. “He is so vocal and in those big moments, he helps us like today,” Guehi said.
Crystal Palace’s impressive performance at Wembley secured their place in the FA Cup final, where they will face Man City.
The team now focuses on staying grounded as they aim to make history in the upcoming final.
