Senegalese midfielder Ousseynou Thioune has mutually terminated his contract with Anórthosis Famagusta, marking an end to his brief stint with the Cypriot club.

Having arrived on a free transfer from Dijon in 2023, Thioune’s tenure at Anórthosis Famagusta spanned just one season.

During his time with the club, he featured in 25 matches across various competitions, finding the net once.

However, the Senegalese player has opted to part ways with the club prematurely, with the 2023/2024 season yet to conclude.

While the specific reasons for Thioune’s sudden departure remain undisclosed, reports from Cypriot media suggest that financial disagreements between the player and the club may have precipitated the decision to part ways.

Allegedly, Thioune has lodged a complaint with FIFA regarding unpaid dues. However, the exact motives behind the separation remain shrouded in mystery.

Currently unattached to any club, Thioune is expected to attract interest from potential suitors in the near future.

Over the course of his career, the 30-year-old midfielder has plied his trade for various clubs, including Diambars FC, Ittihad Tanger, Gimnàstic de Tarragona, FC Sochaux, and DFCO.

Furthermore, he has earned six caps for the Senegal national team, in addition to four appearances for the Olympic team.

As Thioune embarks on the next chapter of his professional journey, his departure from Anórthosis Famagusta signifies a new opportunity for the seasoned midfielder to explore fresh horizons and contribute his talents to a new club.
