Jean-Pierre Papin has underlined just how vital Ousmane Dembele has become to Paris Saint-Germain, insisting the French star now sets the tone for the whole side.
Speaking on Telefoot, the 1991 Ballon d’Or winner was clear that PSG simply do not function the same way without their 2025 Ballon d’Or hero on the pitch.
“When Dembele isn’t there, it’s not the same PSG, it’s not the same efficiency,” Papin said when asked whether a great Dembele is needed for a great Paris Saint-Germain. For him, Dembele’s presence changes the rhythm of PSG’s attack and lifts the players around him.
“He has become so indispensable to this team that a great Ousmane Dembele is necessary for a great PSG,” Papin added, summarizing just how central the winger now is to the club’s ambitions.
As PSG chase trophies at home and in Europe, Dembele’s fitness and form look set to remain one of the biggest keys to their season.
The former Barcelona winger has played 14 games, scored 8 goals, and assisted 4 in Ligue 1 this season.
