Ousmane Dembele fitness boost eases PSG fears ahead of Arsenal final showdown
Ousmane Dembele is expected to be available for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League final against Arsenal after manager Luis Enrique provided a reassuring assessment of the forward’s condition.
The French champions are building towards a high-stakes meeting with the Gunners at the Puskas Arena on May 30, where Arsenal will be targeting a first European crown in their history against the reigning holders.
Initial concern around the winger’s condition has now softened significantly, with PSG increasingly confident that their key attacker will be ready for the biggest night of the season.
Enrique’s comments have helped steady nerves within the camp as preparations intensify for the decisive fixture in Budapest.
The uncertainty began during PSG’s derby meeting with Paris FC, when Dembele was withdrawn inside the opening half-hour.
Early indications suggested a possible thigh issue, and the sight of him heading straight down the tunnel after being replaced by Goncalo Ramos quickly fuelled alarm among supporters.
The moment raised immediate questions about whether the forward might miss the Champions League final, with the timing of the incident adding to growing anxiety among the PSG fanbase. With only weeks remaining before the showpiece, speculation spread rapidly over the severity of the problem.
Speaking after the game, Luis Enrique addressed the situation directly, seeking to temper concern around the player’s condition. “I have nothing to say about Ousmane, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I think it’s just fatigue.
“What we can talk about today is just speculation. But I don’t think it’s very serious, we’ll know more tomorrow.”
Dembele’s influence in Europe this season has been significant, with the forward registering seven goals in the Champions League.
Six of those have come in the knockout rounds, where he has delivered decisive performances against elite opposition including Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
His ability to produce in key moments has been central to PSG’s progression, providing sharpness and creativity at crucial stages of the competition as they approach another final appearance.
PSG are also managing a number of fitness concerns across the squad, with Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi, Lucas Chevalier and Quentin Ndjantou all absent from the derby due to hamstring issues, while Mendes also carried a dead leg.
Despite those setbacks, Enrique’s group appear relatively stable with two weeks remaining before the final, offering optimism that several key players will recover in time for selection against Arsenal.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will continue monitoring PSG closely in the build-up to the final, aware that Dembele’s fitness could heavily influence the tactical balance of the contest.
Mikel Arteta’s side are preparing for the biggest night in their modern history, aiming to secure their first Champions League title against the reigning champions in what promises to be a finely poised encounter at the Puskas Arena.
