Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, are gearing up to face Uganda in their second friendly match of the FIFA international window, following a narrow defeat to Nigeria last Friday. With the encounter set to take place in Marrakech, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has issued a stern warning to his players, emphasizing the quality of their upcoming opponents.
Despite the disappointment of their recent loss to Nigeria, Addo remains wary of underestimating Uganda, acknowledging the strength of the Ugandan side.
He stressed the need for his team to approach the match with focus and determination, highlighting Uganda’s formidable lineup.
“If the boys think it will be an easy match, they are wrong. Uganda is very, very good,” cautioned Addo. “I observed them a little before, but I have to go further.
They have very, very good players, we have to have a good plan if we want to win this match. I don’t see us as favorites, it will be a balanced match,” he added.
As Ghana prepares for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Addo views these friendly fixtures as crucial opportunities to assess his squad and explore tactical options for future challenges.
With an eye on the looming qualifiers in June, the Ghanaian coach is keen to use these matches as valuable preparation.
“For me, the most important thing is to find options and solutions for the upcoming matches.
So these friendlies are very, very important to know how they play and how they can adapt and participate in the World Cup qualifiers in June,” expressed Addo.
As Ghana seeks redemption following their defeat to Nigeria, all eyes will be on the Black Stars as they take on Uganda, with Addo’s words serving as a reminder of the importance of diligence and preparation in international football.
