South African outfit Orlando Pirates is set to name defender Nkosinathi Sibisi as new captain amid the departure of Innocent Maela.

The Soweto giants now face a pivotal task of choosing a captain for the upcoming season following the exit of the 32-year-old defender.

Maela is departing Orlando Pirates this summer, ending his eight-year spell at the club.

However, Nkosinathi Sibisi, who has been the livewire of Orlando Pirates is widely regarded as the frontrunner to take the reins and lead from the front.

He is expected to lead the South African giants in the new campaign as they seeks to make a meaningful impact next season.

The 29-year-old has convinced the club leadership of his reliability in high-pressure situations through his unwavering consistency and dedication.

The South African has made 102 appearances for Orlando Pirates, with 42 matches and two goals to his name in the previous season alone.
