Orlando Pirates monitor Cape Town City midfielder Emile Witbooi
South African attacking midfielder Emile Witbooi is the subject of reported interest from Orlando Pirates, with the 18-year-old currently at Cape Town City.
The potential move would keep Witbooi in the Betway Premiership, where Pirates are the club linked with his signing. No transfer fee or probability has been attached to the rumour, and there has been no confirmation that negotiations have taken place.
Witbooi has made nine senior appearances across the Betway Premiership, the PSL Promotion-Relegation Playoff and the Nedbank Cup, with 274 minutes recorded. He has not registered a goal in those appearances.
The teenager joined Cape Town City’s senior side in August 2024 after progressing from the club’s reserve team. He had moved into the reserves from the Transnet School of Excellence earlier that year.
Born in Kimberley, Northern Cape, Witbooi is listed as an attacking midfielder and has represented Cape Town City since making the step up from the club’s development structure. His reported profile has now placed him on the radar of Orlando Pirates, although the link remains at the rumour stage.
Witbooi remains part of Cape Town City’s senior set-up while any possible move to Orlando Pirates has yet to be confirmed.
