A chunk of Orlando Pirates fans are craving for the return of Benni McCarthy for the vacant coaching job.
The Buccaneers are in the hunt of a new coach following the departure of Spanish gaffer Jose Riveiro. After three-year spell in South Africa, Riveiro decided to part ways with Orlando Pirates as he seeks for a new challenge.
As the search for a new coach continues, a chunk of the fans are said to be dreaming for the return of club legend Benni McCarthy—this time as head coach.
The South African football icon only took charge of the Kenya national team a few months ago. However, it is unknown whether he will favour a move to Pirates when contacted for the job.
Meanwhile, other top coaches including Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena have all emerged as candidates for the top job.
Orlando Pirates endured a trophyless campaign, missing out on both South African Premier League, Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League title.
The Buccaneers lost to Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank final, failing to secure their third consecutive cup title this season. In the Champions League semifinals, Pirates could not eliminate Pyramids and had to bow out.
