Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by a resilient Brighton & Hove Albion side at the Etihad Stadium, as Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush got on the scoresheet in an entertaining Premier League clash.
The defending champions started brightly, with Erling Haaland converting a penalty in the 11th minute to give City the lead and mark his 100th Premier League goal involvement. However, Brighton struck back in style through Pervis Estupiñán, whose sublime free-kick in the 21st minute left Stefan Ortega stranded.
Just before halftime, City reclaimed their advantage as Marmoush fired a pinpoint effort into the bottom-left corner after a clever assist from Ilkay Gündogan. It was a clinical strike from the Egyptian, underlining his growing influence in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The visitors, however, found a way back early in the second half, as Abdukodir Khusanov turned the ball into his own net following a chaotic goalmouth scramble. Despite City’s dominance in possession, Brighton held firm to claim a crucial point.
City now shift focus to their FA Cup fixture against Bournemouth on March 30th.
