Omar Kamal and Khaled Abdel Fattah start for Al Mokawloon Al Arab against Al Ahly

Al Mokawloon Al Arab manager Sami Qomsan has named Mohamed Fawzi in goal for the Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Ahly, replacing Mahmoud Abu El-Saoud after the goalkeeper fainted during the club’s previous league match.

Al Mokawloon Al Arab host Al Ahly in the fourth round of the competition at Al-Gabal Al-Akhdar Stadium, with former Al Ahly players Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed and Khaled Abdel Fattah both selected in the starting line-up.

Fawzi takes over between the posts from Abu El-Saoud, who lost consciousness during Al Mokawloon Al Arab’s most recent league fixture against El Gouna. Abu El-Saoud has nevertheless been included among the substitutes for the match against Al Ahly.

Qomsan has otherwise retained a side featuring a mixture of defensive experience and attacking options, with Khaled Abdel Fattah named at left-back and Omar Kamal Abdel Wahed positioned in midfield.

The substitutes are Mahmoud Abu El-Saoud, Hassan Shakosh, Anas Bin Ouda, Mohamed Sandouka, Mohamed Refaat, Ahmed Bahia, Nader Hesham, Ibrahim Adel and Shady Hussein.

Al Mokawloon Al Arab go into the fixture with one victory from their opening three league matches. That win came in the third round, when they beat El Gouna 1-0.

Their campaign began with consecutive defeats. They lost 1-0 to Tala’ea El Gaish in the opening round before suffering a 3-2 reverse against Al Masry in their second match.

The result against El Gouna gave Al Mokawloon Al Arab their first points of the season, but they now face an Al Ahly side in the fourth-round contest at home.

The decision to start Fawzi is the main change to the team following Abu El-Saoud’s incident in the previous match. Abu El-Saoud remains available on the bench, while the inclusion of Shady Hussein provides another attacking option should Al Mokawloon Al Arab need to alter their approach during the game.

Kamal Abdel Wahed and Abdel Fattah will also face their former club after earning starting places for the hosts. Their presence adds further interest to a fixture between Al Mokawloon Al Arab, who are seeking to build on their narrow win over El Gouna, and Al Ahly, who are the visitors at Al-Gabal Al-Akhdar Stadium.
