Omar El Sawy switches SuperLiga sides in UTA Arad loan move
Romanian-Egyptian winger Omar El Sawy has joined UTA Arad from FC Rapid 1923 on loan, completing a move that keeps the 22-year-old in Romania’s SuperLiga.
El Sawy, who plays on the right wing and is right-footed, made the switch on 2 September 2026. The loan is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Rapid.
The move comes after the winger began the 2026-27 campaign with Rapid. He has made five SuperLiga appearances this season, contributing one assist and playing 74 minutes without scoring. He has not featured in the Romanian Cup this term.
El Sawy spent the 2025-26 season on loan at U Cluj before returning to Rapid at the end of June. During that campaign, he gained experience away from his parent club after previously spending the 2024-25 season with Sepsi OSK on another loan deal.
Rapid signed El Sawy from FK Csikszereda in July 2023 for €400,000. He had joined Csikszereda’s senior setup from the club’s under-19 side a year earlier, having started his youth career with CSM Targu Mures and ASA U19.
Born in Targu Mures on 16 March 2004, El Sawy holds Romanian and Egyptian nationality. His arrival provides UTA with a player whose established position is on the right side of the attack, while continuing his run of moves between clubs in the Romanian top flight.
UTA Arad’s new signing has already been involved in SuperLiga action this season, and his temporary transfer from Rapid was completed on 2 September.
