Souleymane Diawara, who has found himself on the bench due to the defensive partnership of Mendes-Nkoulou at Olympique de Marseille (OM), has dismissed any speculation about a transfer despite a challenging season. Since returning from injury, he has seen limited playing time, making only 13 appearances in all competitions, a significant drop from the 41 matches played in the previous season.
Even with the potential for a move to a new destination, the 34-year-old Senegalese defender has expressed his commitment to staying and fighting for his place at Marseille. Diawara mentioned that he would have liked to play more matches, but he respects the coach’s decisions in team selection. He emphasizes that he continues to train diligently, maintaining readiness for any opportunities that may arise.
Under contract with OM until 2014 and holding the second-highest salary in the Marseille defense, Diawara, with an annual salary of 2.4 million euros (behind Nicolas Nkoulou, who earns 2.5 million euros), is determined to reclaim a starting position next season. Despite the challenges, he remains focused and dedicated to giving his best for the club.
