At the age of 34, Souleymane Diawara holds the title of the oldest player in the Marseille (OM) squad, and despite losing his starting place this season, he remains determined to be a full-fledged competitor.
With a contract in place until 2014, Diawara’s future with OM is uncertain, especially as the club aims to secure a fifth-place finish by the end of the season. The budget for recruitment will be influenced by the final ranking, and as a result, several players, including Diawara, may be on the way out.
Diawara expressed his perspective, stating, “At the end of the season, we will see where we are.” The Senegalese defender, known as the Lion of Terenga, has the ambition to continue playing at the highest level for “two more years.” He remains confident in his ability to achieve this goal, emphasizing his commitment to staying competitive in football.
