Olympique d’Asfi pulled off a stunning upset on Sunday by defeating RS Berkane to win the 2025 Throne Cup at the Grand Stade de Fez.
The tightly contested final ended 1-1 after regulation time, with Olympique d’Asfi eventually triumphing 6-5 in a dramatic penalty shootout to claim their first-ever Throne Cup title.
The match was filled with tension and excitement. Salah Eddine Rahouli gave Asfi the lead in the 39th minute, but RS Berkane responded just before halftime, with Burkinabe defender Youssoufa Dayo converting from the spot in the 46th minute.
Dayo had a chance to put Berkane ahead in the second half but missed a second penalty in the 57th minute, leaving the score level.
Extra time produced no further goals, sending the final into a nerve-wracking shootout.
Olympique d’Asfi held their nerve from the spot to secure a historic victory, sparking wild celebrations among their fans.
The win also dashed RS Berkane’s hopes of completing a historic treble this season.
