Oliver Glasner has seen enough elite talent to recognise when a player is merely scratching the surface, and his latest assessment of Michael Olise will send a clear message to Bayern Munich and the rest of Europe: the best is yet to come.

Speaking ahead of Crystal Palace’s Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg against Fiorentina, Glasner reflected on the meteoric rise of the former Palace winger, who has blossomed into one of Europe’s most coveted attacking forces since his move to Bavaria two years ago.

With reported interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid, Olise’s valuation has surged into the €150 million bracket — a testament to his explosive development.

Yet for Glasner, the numbers and headlines only tell part of the story.

“I watched yesterday’s game against Real Madrid. It was a great game to watch and he was outstanding. I think his entire season is really incredible.

“But I’m not surprised and I think he’s still not at his ceiling.

“He can still do better.”

Those words carry weight. Glasner is not one for hyperbole, and his insistence that Olise remains a work in progress hints at an even more formidable version of the player emerging in the coming seasons.

Already, the French international has become a decisive figure for Bayern, combining creativity, precision, and composure in high-stakes moments — qualities that were evident during his time in south London but have since evolved on a grander stage.

The French international of Nigerian descent has recorded an impressive 41 non-penalty goal involvements for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season. This tally consists of 16 goals and 25 assists, making him the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach the 25-assist milestone this term.

He has 45 goal contributions overall.

“And it’s not just him. I think it was Monday when Marc Guéhi had a day off so he visited the Training Ground.

“I think it’s a good sign that the players who left Palace are always enjoying coming back to the Training Ground and visiting the players, visiting the staff. So again, until now, it has been a really a great week here.”
