Cape Town City FC have made a bold move by parting ways with their head coach, Eric Tinkler, amidst a challenging South African Premier League season, AfricaSoccer.com can confirm

Tinkler, a seasoned tactician with a rich history in South African football, departs after guiding the team to respectable league finishes of 2nd, 4th, and 5th in his three-season tenure.

However, the recent slump, with three losses in their last four matches, has left the club teetering just three points above the relegation zone.

This decision marks the end of Tinkler’s second stint with the Citizens, a club where he achieved historic milestones, including their first major trophy—the Telkom Knockout in 2016.

The announcement underscores the club’s gratitude for his contributions while signalling a fresh start with an “exciting new project” for the upcoming 25-26 season.

City’s immediate challenge lies in their next fixture, a clash against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

With an interim coach set to take the reins, the team will need to rally under fresh leadership to secure critical points and steer clear of relegation danger.

The club’s loyal supporters will hope this change ignites a resurgence, as City looks to reclaim their competitive edge in South Africa’s top-flight football.
