Barry Copa Boubacar, the Ivorian international goalkeeper, has decided to remain at Sporting Lokeren despite earlier indications of a potential move to Ligue 1. The 34-year-old, whose contract was set to expire next June, has agreed to extend his stay with Lokeren for two more seasons, with an option for a third.
Despite receiving offers from other clubs, including interest from Rennes, Copa ultimately opted to continue his career in the Jupiler Pro League. Copa’s journey in Belgium began after his time at Rennes, where he initially struggled to break into the first team. However, he found success during a loan spell at Beveren and has since established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Belgian league.
