Adil Rami Completes Permanent Move to AC Milan
AC Milan have confirmed the permanent signing of French international defender Adil Rami from Valencia, concluding a deal that follows a successful loan spell at the Italian club last season.
The 28-year-old, who has earned 26 caps for France, has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until June 30, 2017, the club announced on Saturday. The transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, despite previous speculation surrounding the financial details between the two clubs.
Rami’s move to Milan comes after a productive six-month loan stint in Serie A where he made 22 appearances and scored three goals. His performances impressed the Milan management enough to secure his services on a permanent basis, signalling their faith in the former Lille defender’s ability to strengthen their backline.
Before joining Milan on loan, Rami spent three years at Valencia, where he developed his reputation as a strong and composed central defender. The move to Milan offers Rami a fresh opportunity to revive his international career, as he was notably left out of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Frenchman’s experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable to Milan as the club looks to rebuild and challenge for honours in the coming seasons.
AC Milan made the announcement through their official channels, including a tweet confirming the transfer: “#ACMilan communicates the signing of @Rami13officiel from Valencia CF: Rami signed a contract with the club until the 30th June 2017!”
Rami’s permanent arrival at Milan marks a key addition for the club ahead of the new campaign, with fans hopeful the defender’s presence will help solidify their defence and provide stability at the back.
