Obassa linked with swift Kano Pillars exit to Ethiopian side Hawasa Ketema
Benin goalkeeper Serge Obassa has been linked with a move from Kano Pillars to Ethiopian Premier League club Hawasa Ketema.
The reported interest comes only weeks after Obassa joined Kano Pillars from Remo Stars in Nigeria’s NPFL. The 30-year-old completed that move on 30 July 2026, following two seasons in Nigeria after leaving AS Cotonou.
Obassa made his name in the Nigerian league with Remo Stars, helping the club win the Nigerian championship in the 2024-25 season. His possible move to Hawasa Ketema would take him into the Ethiopian Premier League after a recent spell in the NPFL.
The goalkeeper was born in Parakou, Benin, and stands 1.83m tall. He began his recent club career with Buffles Borgou before moving to AS Cotonou in July 2023, then crossing to Remo Stars a year later.
Obassa’s arrival at Kano Pillars was his latest move within Nigerian football, but the reported Hawasa Ketema interest could see him leave the club before establishing a long-term spell there. His current contract situation has not been disclosed.
