Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League featured a standout performance from Ethan Nwaneri and a memorable debut for Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
Both players, who came through the club’s youth system, played key roles in what was a dominant showing for the Gunners.
Nwaneri and Butler-Oyedeji, both of Nigerian heritage, have spent several years developing in Arsenal’s academy.
Their shared African background and experiences in the youth setup have helped build a strong relationship, which was evident in Nwaneri’s enthusiastic reaction to his teammate’s senior debut.
Nwaneri also got on the scoresheet in the game and expressed satisfaction with his growing impact at senior level.
“Nathan’s a top, top player. So sharp, his finishing is so good, so he deserves it.
“I’m so happy to see him out there on the pitch. It’s someone I’ve played with for the last few years in the academy, so it was so good to see him out there.”
“I’m very happy with the amount of goals I’ve scored this season.
“I think that’s what I can bring to the team. I can bring goals and assists, I’ve been able to display that, so I’m happy.”
The match was largely one-sided, with Arsenal asserting control early through goals from Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.
Ipswich were reduced to 10 men in the 31st minute after Leif Davis was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Bukayo Saka.
Trossard added a second goal later in the second half, before Nwaneri sealed the victory with a composed finish in the 88th minute.
