Lazio left-back Nuno Tavares is being linked with a move to Beşiktaş, with the Turkish club reportedly exploring a deal for the Portugal–Cape Verde defender.
The 26-year-old, who has a current estimated market value of €15.00m, is the subject of mounting speculation over his future in Rome, with the potential switch to the Süper Lig rated at around a 41% probability according to figures sourced from Transfermarkt data. While no agreement is in place and no contract terms have been disclosed, the links raise the possibility that Lazio could cash in on a player whose value has declined from a peak of €25m in 2024–25.
Tavares is currently on the books at Lazio after a permanent move from Arsenal, following a sequence of loan spells at Olympique Marseille and Nottingham Forest. The full-back has featured in Serie A after previous experience in Ligue 1 and the Premier League, adding to his formative years in Portugal with Benfica’s youth, B team and first team.
The Lisbon-born defender, who stands at 1.83m and operates primarily as a left-back, has seen his transfer value fluctuate sharply during his career, rising from €200k at Benfica B in early 2019 to €18m during his successful period at Marseille, before later dropping back to €15m at Lazio by December 2025. That trajectory has fuelled debate over whether a move to Beşiktaş could represent an opportunity to stabilise his career and play a more central role.
Tavares holds dual nationality with Portugal and Cape Verde and has already experienced several major European leagues. With Lazio yet to clarify their stance and Beşiktaş monitoring the situation, any deal may also influence whether he edges towards free-agent territory in the medium term, depending on how his contractual situation develops.
If the transfer does materialise, a switch from Serie A to the Süper Lig could offer Tavares a fresh platform to revive his market value and reshape the next phase of a career that has already taken him across Portugal, England, France and Italy.
