Paris Saint-Germain’s bid for a commanding 10-point lead in Ligue 1 could be dealt a blow, as star left-back Nuno Mendes is a major doubt to face AS Monaco on Wednesday.
The match is a pivotal one for both clubs, especially as they approach the halfway point of the season.
While Monaco will be missing several key players due to injuries, PSG is not immune to fitness concerns. Nuno Mendes, the 21-year-old Portuguese international, is reportedly struggling with a right thigh injury sustained during PSG’s victory over Olympique Lyonnais last weekend. The full-back missed training ahead of the Monaco clash, raising doubts over his availability for the crucial encounter.
Born in Sintra, Lisbon, Mendes hails from a family of Angolan descent. His impressive performances during a loan spell at PSG from Sporting CP earned him a permanent move in 2022, with his €38 million buyout clause being triggered. He then signed a four-year deal, solidifying his future at the Parc des Princes.
Mendes has played nine games and assisted one in Ligue 1 this season.
