Nuno Espirito Santo hails West Ham resilience after hard-fought win at 'very good' Fulham

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed immense satisfaction after his side secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Fulham on Wednesday night, with Crysencio Summerville’s decisive strike proving the difference.

The win marked an important moment for the Hammers, who faced a Fulham team Nuno described as “very good” and difficult to break down.

Speaking after the match, Nuno praised his players’ resilience and organisation. “Overall, I think we should realise how difficult it was for the boys. Fulham is a very good team, it’s a hard place to come, but the boys were organised, we had good moments of football and we achieved a clean sheet, we were resilient, we were compact,” he said.

The Portuguese coach also singled out the role of the away supporters, noting their impact during a tense encounter.

“We cannot thank them enough, honestly. The noise from our supporters was amazing. We were there suffering and the way they are supporting our players, I think they realise… the moment of the Club and we need them all,” Nuno said.

On the team’s performance, Nuno acknowledged areas for improvement while remaining optimistic about West Ham’s progress. He noted that set-pieces still require attention but praised the squad’s overall compactness and ability to handle decisive moments.

“The players are responding. Of course, bad games and bad results can happen, but I think we are in the line of improvement. We’ve been compact, we still assess the situation of set-pieces and improve a lot on that aspect. In the crucial moments of the game, we did well,” he reflected.

Looking ahead, Nuno remains confident in the squad’s attacking potential. “Moving forward, we have talented players. We have talented players that can create a lot of problems to the opponents,” he added.
