Nottingham Forest have turned down a £50 million offer for in-form winger Anthony Elanga, underlining the club’s high valuation of the Swedish international of Cameroonian descent.
The 22-year-old has been a standout performer this season, registering six goals and nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Elanga made headlines this week after scoring a stunning solo goal against his former club Manchester United.
The goal, which showcased his blistering pace and close control, was widely praised and further boosted his growing reputation in English football.
According to the Daily Mail, Forest previously rejected similar offers from Newcastle United during both the summer and January transfer windows.
The club remains firm in its belief that Elanga is a key figure in their current and future plans.
Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo has expressed his satisfaction with the winger’s development but downplayed the idea of a specific strategy behind Elanga’s progress.
“He is improving because he has been able to play game after game,” said Nuno. “His team-mates recognise his abilities and his pace.
“That goal on Tuesday was a credit to him and his capacity to drive with the ball and keep increasing the speed while controlling it.”
